Positive Education at Southern Cross Grammar aims to enhance student wellbeing. Explicit instruction and school-wide practices promote positive Purpose, Emotions, Relationships, Meaning and Accomplishment.
The School uses this PERMA framework, developed by Professor Martin Seligman from the University of Pennsylvania, incorporating Health as a key pathway towards mental wellbeing. This PERMA+ model is the basis upon which the School’s Positive Education curriculum has been developed.
Social and emotional learning is key to academic success in early education. For this reason, all Foundation to Year 6 students receive weekly timetabled sessions in Positive Education.
From Year 7 to Year 12, students are offered a wide range of learning experiences and opportunities to help them build resilience, develop emotional regulation and cultivate growth mindset thinking.
